Bolsa Grande Meet Boys Results
The boys Cross Country team completed its first and last dual meet of the season at Fairview Park. The meet against Bolsa Grande High School of Garden Grove.. Bolsa with a new group of boys ran a good race and enjoyed our course a lot.
Today the team was lead by Senior runner Jorge Martin who is stepping into the number one spot after two years in the shadows of Fernando Orozco. He did a fine job of leading the Eagles to the first 5 places in the race today. Following a close call on Last Saturday when he placed 6 in the Senior Race at the Laguna Hills INvite.
Wanting to race well on his last home meet course at Estancia Jorge place 1st leading the sweep and racing to a 17:12 time. Just beating out Junior Juan Jeronimo who raced a fine 17:13. Next in line for the Bird men was new comer Junior Peter Hernandez who place 3rd for his first time running and had a time of 17:24. The story is that he was running with Jorge but got caught and passed on the hill.
Placing 4th captian Michael Davila let Jonathan Moreno in with an 18:36 to Jonathan's 18:38. Jonathan placed 5th. Finally getting into gear and running a time of 18:52 Jorge Carrizal led a pack of eagles into the home stretch by placing 7th. Next in was Alan Soto who placed 8th and ran 19:11. Giving a little bit of race room Victor Silva who had a fine race Saturday ran a tad slower but got 11th with a time of 19:26.
Dave Cornelious placed 15 giving the eagles a 20:42 time which just beat out Manny Hernandez with his 17th place finish and a time of 21:12.
Freshmen Matt Thomas led another flock of low flying Bird dudes finishing with a time of 21:15, followed by Cesar Torres who placed 20 and ran 21:59.
Wesley Pena ran a better race today compared to last Saturday when he ran into some heat problems. He placed 22 and ran 22:54. Followed by Hector Rosete in 23, running 22:54, Luis Ramirez placing 25 captureing a time of 25:39 and giving us a good race and turning on the gas the last 400 meters Fernando Barajas placed 26th with a time of 26:44.
The next meet for the Estancia High School Eagles Cross Country Team will be at the Rosemead High School Invite, sponsored by Rosemead High School XC. The races start at 6:00 and the last one is at 9:30. pm
It is the first night meet that Estancia has ever run in and the kids are looking forward to the challenge.
